Did you know FSCJ has an honor society for students enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program?
Patti McConnell assumed the position of liaison for the International Society of Baccalaureate Scholars (ISBS) two months ago. She receives a list of names for students who have been found eligible and then, if all ISBS membership criteria are met, McConnell sends an invitation to the students’ FSCJ email accounts and forwards all qualifying names to Chief Student Support Officer Jennifer Blalock.
Blalock is available to answer students’ questions regarding membership fees, and the turnaround time for obtaining regalia.
The requirements for admittance are current enrollment in a bachelor’s program, completion of 72 credit hours with a minimum of 12 completed credit hours at 3000 or 4000 level and a minimum 3.5 GPA in upper level course work at 3000 or 4000 level.
Students who believe they have met the criteria and have not received an email may contact Patti McConnell at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (904)632-3065.
Benefits of membership include membership credentials being notated on students’ Florida State College at Jacksonville transcripts, a letter of recommendation to a graduate school admissions officer or potential employer from ISBS, a press release from the college public relations office announcing students’ election to membership in ISBS, an official certificate of membership and a membership pin engraved with the ISBS name and logo–a pillar of knowledge encircled by laurel leaves. Students also have the ability to purchase ISBS graduation regalia.
