Free Event Fortifies Personal Safety

In 2014 alone, there were more than 1,600 motor vehicle thefts according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s website. In fact, the overall crime rate for Duval County is on the high end for the state. Violent crimes are committed in various parts of town during various times of day.

So how can a citizen of Jacksonville ensure personal safety without having to completely rearrange schedules? In October 2009, the founders of the Warrior Krav Maga and Kickboxing Center answered this question by opening a “school that caters to adults and their busy lifestyle,” says Amanda S.–the program director and kickboxing instructor at the center.

On Saturday July 18, the instructors and staff at the Warrior Krav Maga and Kickboxing Center will be hosting an open house at the center, located at 1400 Millcoe Road. This event will feature two classes that are both free of charge and open to the public.

At 10:00 a.m., there will be a Beg for Mercy Boot Camp, which is a fun and energetic workout for all fitness levels. At 11:00 a.m., the center will host the Anti-Carjacking Seminar. Those who attend the Anti-Carjacking Seminar will learn “basic preventative measures and dynamic responses in a critical situation,” according to Amanda S. Knowing what to do in a dangerous situation is a great step toward maintaining personal safety.

Anyone interested can attend the Beg for Mercy Boot Camp or the Anti-Carjacking Seminar–or opt to attend both events. No payment or special equipment is required, but the center asks that for either or both events participants wear comfortable workout clothes and bring both a towel and some drinking water.

The Warrior Krav Maga and Kickboxing Center regularly offers a variety of classes, including Krav Maga, Kickboxing, X-Fit and more. These classes are offered on a variety of different days and times to help busy adults work in some workout time, even with hectic schedules.
