This year has opened and closed many doors. One of the first opened doors was becoming a part of Okeechobee’s college ambassador program. It has inspired and motivated me even more, with connecting to others through music.
Social media was just one of the aspects of connecting with others. Once you start flyering and spreading the music, the festival only envelops you more. I am honored to share this journey with old friends and new friends.
Just imagining setting up the campsite, sharing a tent, stories, and the love of music has me enraptured. The warmth of shared friendship all around, distance from technology, and coming together through nature are the top offerings a festival environment has.
This festival will start on March 3rd and end on March 6th. It will be hosting over 80 musicians, DJ’s, and bands. If you haven’t already chosen a spring break destination this WILL be the place to be.
Just a handful of who I am excited to see are Ween, Hall & Oates, Future, Damian Lazarus, Lil Dicky, and Youth Lagoon. Within this year Future has a new released album “Evol”, which he is sure to play hits from. Along with this news, Youth Lagoon announced that he will no longer go by the name “Youth Lagoon”. OMF will be one of the last chances to see him as Youth Lagoon.
There will also be a once in a lifetime collaboration, including Miguel, Win Butler (known from Arcade Fire), Hall & Oates, George Porter Jr., Zigaboo Modeliste, Kamasi Washington, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Erik Kransno & Neal Evans, and Chris Karns. This collaboration is sure to offer vocals, funk, and jazz to the ultimate experience.
So, will you be entering the portal into Okeechobee? I know I will! If not there will be videos, photos, and a review to come!
